This bike is a Canadian-only model, which is similar (possibly identical)
to the XJ750F in Europe. The bike is based on the XJ900, with a slightly
different 750 motor than the Seca/Maxim 750 (it uses larger carbs, the
airbox from the 900, and the same electronic ignition as the 900). It's
so close to the 900 that the factory service manual is an XJ900 manual
with a short (<100 page) addendum for the XJ750RL. The bike produces a
claimed 86bhp, and weighs 532 pounds wet.
I've repainted the body parts, engine, and wheels. I also removed the exhaust that was on the bike (original header pipes and collector, aftermarket mufflers) and added a MUCH lighter Hindle Stealth 4-into-1 pipe. I also had the carbs rejetted by SM Cycle, the same guys that did the dyno run on Mark Yager's 650 Turbo (I know Mark). I have a dyno run showing 66.5hp at the rear wheel, though the bike was re-tuned after that (turns out one of the airbox snorkels was not installed correctly, throwing off the carb balance. I figure it's putting out about 70 at the rear wheel. I guess shaft drive does rob quite a bit of power! The bike goes pretty well... I've never timed it, but a good friend has a modified RZ350, and I can kick his butt! |
